Welcome to HTA

Welcome to Honoring the Animals!

Honoring the Animals (HTA) is a candlelight vigil and animal blessing that is held on National Pet Memorial Day. The International Association of Pet Cemeteries (IAPC) has designated the second Sunday in September as National Pet Memorial Day and HTA is an annual event held in observance of this day. HTA is presented by Chance's Spot, Pet Loss and Support Resources, a nonprofit organization that helps pet parents and professionals understand and cope with the pain of pet loss and grief. HTA is just one of the many ways Chance's Spot supports those who have lost a pet. more

The HTA 2015 Guest is... Richard LeMieux

Breakfast at Sally'sThis year Chance's Spot welcomes our very special Honoring the Animals Candlelight Vigil guest, Richard LeMieux. Mr. LeMieux is the author of the book "Breakfast at Sally's," a memoir about a once prominent businessman who became homeless when his business failed. His book tells about the people he met and the experiences he had during the year and a half he was homeless.

Mr. LeMieux will sign copies of his book at HTA and share his inspirational story. You can pre-purchase the book at Amazon otherwise copies will be available at the event. more

It's A Very Special Honoring the Animals 2015

This year's HTA is extra special because not only is it the 10-year anniversary of Chance's Spot, we are also celebrating with a very special organization, My Dog Eats First.

My Dog Eats First is a 501(c)(3) grassroots organization that serves the underserved and homeless with pets in the greater Louisville and Southern Indiana areas. It is estimated that 3.5 million Americans are homeless. Between 5% to 10% of homeless people have pets that provide them companionship, protection and unconditional love. Therefore, Chance's Spot is proud to have this organization, whose mission is to provide free pet food, supplies, veterinary care and spay/neuter services for the pets of the underserved and homeless within our community, join us for a very special Honoring the Animals 2015. We invite you to join us, too.
