About Honoring the Animals
The International Association of Pet Cemeteries (IAPC) has designated the second Sunday in September as National Pet Memorial Day. Most pet cemeteries observe this day with special ceremonies, open houses, and other events. Honoring the Animals is a candlelight vigil that is held in observance of this day. This annual event is presented by Chance's Spot, Pet Loss and Support Resources, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists pet caregivers and professionals with pet loss and grief.
Chance's Spot Thanks Author, Sid Korpi for Appearing at HTA 2009!
Sid Korpi (right) was our very special guest at this year's Honoring the Animals Candlelight Vigil. Ms. Korpi combined her decades of varied professional experience - as an editor, writer, journalist, former English teacher, actor, and ordained minister/animal chaplain - with her lifelong devotion to the companion animals who have blessed and shared her life in creating Good Grief: Finding Peace After Pet Loss.
Ms. Korpi gave a beautiful presentation on the topic of pet loss and grief and it was a pleasure to have her as our guest!

The 2007 Honoring the Animals Online Album
Although it was our first year, we had a wonderful turnout in spite of bad weather earlier in the day. In 2008 however, we were not as lucky. Hurricane Ike struck and HTA 2008 was canceled. Please enable popups and view the 2007 album here.
